The "666 Feet" Oceanographer is among Bulova's most recognizable tool watches. This Ref. 714 combines a substantial stainless-steel case with a domed crystal, vivid black-and-red "Coke" bezel, high-contrast dial, and the warmly aged tritium that gives an exceptional vintage diver its character. Its appeal extends beyond the famous "666 Feet" signature. The design captures the best of the late 1960s: functional, durable, and visually confident without becoming excessive. The bezel, broad luminous hands, magnified date display, and strongly defined case make it feel purposeful from every angle. This one-owner example was acquired directly from its original owner. It remains unpolished and retains its original dial, handset, tritium lume, bezel, signed crown, Cal. 11BLACD movement, and Kreisler bracelet. Its preservation, originality, and completeness make it one of the finest examples of the reference to pass through the studio.
A complete service of the original Bulova Cal. 11BLACD automatic movement was completed in September 2026. An extremely scarce new-old-stock, high-dome Bulova crystal with the correct integrated date magnifier was installed. All case gaskets were replaced, including the gasket inside the original Bulova-signed crown. The original tritium in the handset was stabilized from behind with clear binder to preserve the existing material and patina. No modern luminous material was added. All other watch components remain original. The watch passed a 6-bar pressure test following service. This documents its performance when tested but does not guarantee continued water resistance.
