A striking vintage Croton automatic with unmistakable 1960s sport-dress styling, combining a fluted bezel, framed date window, and an unusual exotic racing dial. With proportions and design cues reminiscent of a period Rolex Datejust, this is a particularly charismatic example of mid-century Swiss watchmaking.
I personally completed a full service of the ETA 2472 movement using industry-standard methods, Moebius lubricants, and proper watchmaking tools. The movement was disassembled, cleaned, inspected, lubricated, reassembled, regulated, and functionally tested. The caseback gasket was replaced, and the pictured timegrapher results document that the movement is running healthily.

| Dial and Hands | The dial is the standout feature of this watch. A vertically brushed champagne-silver center is surrounded by a contrasting dark outer minute track, creating an unusual two-tone "racing dial" appearance. Large applied faceted hour markers catch the light beautifully, while the framed date aperture at 3 o'clock completes the distinctly 1960s sport-dress aesthetic. The dial is signed simply CROTON, with a discreet SWISS signature at 6 o'clock. The overall design bears a strong resemblance to the Rolex Datejust aesthetic of the period—particularly the fluted bezel, applied indices, date-at-three layout, and angular case—but with a much more unusual dial treatment that gives the Croton a character all its own. |

The ETA 2472 is a well-regarded vintage automatic caliber from the 1960s and features a semi-quickset date mechanism: the date can be advanced by cycling the hands backward and forward around midnight rather than running through a full 24 hours for each date change. |
