This Seastar is a true predecessor to the modern Tissot PRX, sharing the integrated-bracelet design language that has made the contemporary model so recognizable. The original is more restrained, far less common, and considerably more distinctive. Anyone can walk into a store and buy a PRX. Finding its automatic forebear—especially with a brushed slate-blue dial and in this exceptional condition—is another matter entirely. At 38 mm, it was unusually large for 1973 and still has thoroughly modern wrist presence. The sharply preserved case, flared integrated bracelet, warm tritium, and brushed blue dial make it feel remarkably contemporary despite being more than fifty years old.
In November 2025, I personally completed a full service of the original 17-jewel Tissot Cal. 2511 automatic movement, the U.S.-market equivalent of the Tissot Cal. 2481. The movement was fully disassembled, cleaned, inspected, lubricated using industry-standard lubricants, reassembled, regulated, and functionally tested. The movement performed healthily in both horizontal and vertical positions during testing. The original tritium in the hands was stabilized from behind with clear binder. A new case-back gasket and a new O-ring inside the original T-signed crown were installed. The recessed Tissot “T” on the reverse of the bracelet clasp was carefully restored with black enamel, returning the detail to its original appearance. This treatment is reversible. The original crystal and crystal gasket were retained. The watch retains its original case and case back, brushed slate-blue dial, applied markers and Tissot emblem, hands and tritium lume, crystal and crystal gasket, T-signed crown, Cal. 2511 movement, integrated bracelet, and T-signed clasp. Service replacements are limited to the case-back gasket and crown O-ring.
| Case | The unpolished case is in exceptional condition, with honest scratches and scuffs from light use. Its sharp edges, original bezel brushing, and topside finishing remain clearly preserved. The case back is crisp and unpolished, with normal surface wear. One small nick is present near the 2 o’clock position. |

| Crystal | The original crystal is exceptionally clear overall, with a few very small scratches near its edges. The original crystal gasket remains installed. |
| Dial and Hands | The original brushed slate-blue dial is exceptionally well preserved and is the standout feature of the watch. Its applied markers, applied Tissot emblem, and tritium plots remain intact. Under magnification, a few extremely small areas of the blue finish have aged toward copper-colored specks, consistent with the natural aging sometimes seen on blue dials from this period. The original hands retain their original tritium. The lume across the dial and hands has aged evenly to a warm cream tone. The hand lume was stabilized from behind during restoration. |
| Movement | The original 17-jewel Tissot Cal. 2511 automatic movement is in excellent condition. Its serial number dates the watch to 1973. It was fully serviced in November 2025 and performed healthily in horizontal and vertical testing positions. |
| Band / Strap | The original flared integrated bracelet and T-signed clasp are sturdy and remain in excellent overall condition, with scratches and scuffs consistent with normal use. Most, if not all, of the original screw-in links appear to be installed, allowing the bracelet to fit approximately a 7.75–8-inch wrist. Some link screws show evidence of prior resizing. The recessed clasp emblem has been restored with black enamel. |
| Gaskets / Seals | The watch was originally rated to 200 meters. Following service, it passed a 6-bar pressure test—the maximum supported by the available testing equipment. This confirms performance only at the tested pressure and does not verify the original 200-meter rating. A new case-back gasket and crown O-ring were installed. The original crystal gasket was retained. Because of the watch’s age, continued water resistance is not guaranteed, and exposure to water remains at the owner’s risk. |
